| So whats the most far fetched thing you've heard about monster hunter? The first thing I can think of is, " - Affinity will make the monster stagger more often then the + Affinity", this obviously false, but it was passed around quite a bit that I almost believed it

| Interesting, wonder why someone started that myth o_O Another myth was that only Susano Blade could cut off Lao's tail (like it says in the description) but Lao can't have his tail cut off, period | |

| idk, but I nearly believed until I read a faq stating damage alone affects staggers, not affinity.(I know that affinity affects damage, but stagger is damage based alone) | |

| Mark: Oh really? Ha, I guess I can see that happening as a myth Ry: The stagger limit is, like you said, is strictly based on raw damage And different parts of the monster have different stagger-limits | |

| i thought the stagger limmit was fully based on when causing enough damage for instance rathalos has 4000 hp every 300 he staggers kinda like that right ? | |

| Yeah, but not on every part of the body... for example,
= Rathalos = __________________________________________________________ _______________ |Hitzone | Cut |Impact| Fire | Watr | Thdr | Drgn | Ice || Stagger Limit | |---------+------+------+------+------+------+------+------||---------------| |Head | 80 | 70 | 0 | 30 | 15 | 30 | 40 || 180 HP | |---------+------+------+------+------+------+------+------||---------------| |Neck | 50 | 50 | 0 | 20 | 10 | 20 | 30 || 100 HP | |---------+------+------+------+------+------+------+------||---------------| |Back | 25 | 30 | 15 | 20 | 15 | 20 | 30 || 160 HP | |---------+------+------+------+------+------+------+------||---------------| |Stomach | 45 | 40 | 0 | 15 | 15 | 10 | 25 || 160 HP | |---------+------+------+------+------+------+------+------||---------------| |Tail | 30 | 30 | 0 | 10 | 5 | 20 | 20 || 150 HP | |---------+------+------+------+------+------+------+------||---------------| |Wing | 25 | 20 | 0 | 30 | 15 | 20 | 40 || 100 HP | |---------+------+------+------+------+------+------+------||---------------| |Foot | 45 | 50 | 0 | 10 | 5 | 5 | 20 || 160 HP | |_________|______|______|______|______|______|______|______||_______________| Rage Mode Defense: 0.9 (Posted from GameFAQs.com)
As you can see, the stagger limit is different from where you hit the wyvern, the neck and wing has the best stagger while the head (though it takes the most damage) is the weakest for stagger

| Staggering can also lead into what is known as "headlocking" where you damage all parts of the monster to near stagger, then chain all the spots so the monster is at your mercy.
you can also stagger the one part of the body like the head for example and re-stagger them after they recover, if you kept striking the head during the previous stagger recovery, this also "headlocking".
note: in MHP2ndG, G Rank Monsters possess greater stagger limits then any other rank and it is very difficult to "headlock" a G Rank monster.

| thats not like headlocking in the original MH in that one u literally had a guy with a powerful lance attack his head 2-3 times till stagger then jump back and repeat it was like epic if u could time it right | |

| I remember doing headlocking with greatswords, worked best on Rath wyverns | |

| Headlocking, I managed to headlock a G rank Rathian for about 5 minutes but then it took off and flew away.
Most Stupid rumor I've ever heard: You can cut Fatalis's tail off, my friend actually believed and spent hours trying to hack the tail off.

| Haha, tell the to Sigurd petting the pigs giving you more rewards is one of those I don't quite believe, I think it was just made as meat cooking practice, or just a random function really | |

| but its the same system, you time your action right after the music stops, if you do it partially correct you get a small heart - or in cooking terms a rare steak (unless gormet) and if you time it just right, you get a big heart - or in cooking terms a well-done steak (or gormet steak)
Its the same music and everything
